In 2021, MSX Resources faced a critical data loss incident. A fraudulent BIOS download request on the company laptop caused a system crash. With no backup in place, the only recoverable data were fragments still sitting in memory or on the internal drive. The loss included crucial project data, which disrupted business operations, led to cancelled projects during the pandemic-driven economic downturn, and ultimately resulted in the closure of the business During this time, the team was working remotely and met only once a month, which exposed a lack of infrastructure, virtual collaboration tools, and secure backup solutions. The perception was that such protection was only affordable by large enterprises — small and medium players believed they couldn’t access the same level of resilience.
Solution
